Student Activities

During the school day, SHA offers a variety of clubs throughout the week to enrich learning and provide students with meaningful experiences connected to different subject areas. These opportunities allow students to explore their interests, deepen their skills, and engage with learning in fun and hands-on ways.

Student Council

Each year, the Middle School student body elects a student government composed of students motivated to take leadership roles and plan activities, including spirit days, charity events, and a snack shack. Students run for their positions in democratic style by campaigning, marketing themselves, and delivering speeches.

In addition, a small group of lower school students are invited to represent the elementary grades on the council.

Israel Trip

As a capstone experience, the eighth grade class travels to Israel for 10 days to connect their learning and identity to the ancient and modern aspects of the land.

Clubs

During the school day, SHA offers a variety of clubs throughout the week to enrich learning and provide students with meaningful experiences connected to different subject areas. These opportunities allow students to explore their interests, deepen their skills, and engage with learning in fun and hands-on ways.

Current clubs include:

Israeli Club (Lower School) / Elective (Middle School)
Our Shinshinit leads this club, where students explore Israeli culture through music, games, food, language, and traditions. They build a personal connection to Israel and experience its energy and diversity in a fun and engaging setting.

STEM Club (Lower School) / STEM Elective (Middle School)
Students explore science, technology, engineering, and design through hands-on challenges and problem-solving. They build, test, collaborate, and refine their ideas, developing curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in a supportive and fun environment.

Math Club (Lower & Middle School)
The Math Club gives students a chance to grow their math skills with puzzles, games, and challenges. They build confidence, improve problem-solving, and enjoy learning math together in a fun and supportive group.

Hebrew Club (Lower School)
Students strengthen their Hebrew skills through games, songs, and interactive activities in a fun and supportive club. This helps them build confidence and connect more deeply with the Hebrew language and culture.

Art (Middle School – Lunch Studio)
The art room is open at lunch for middle school students to create and express themselves with different art projects. Students can work on guided projects or make their own creations in a relaxed space that encourages creativity.

Study Hall (Middle School)
Study Hall provides students with a structured, supportive place to do homework, study, or get organized during the school day. With help available when needed, students learn to be independent, manage their time, and build good study habits.

Mishmar: After-School Learning for Middle School

Mishmar is SHA’s vibrant after-school Torah learning program for middle school students. Held weekly, Mishmar offers students an opportunity to engage with Jewish learning in a relaxed, inspiring environment beyond the classroom. What makes Mishmar especially meaningful is the involvement of community leaders and role models who volunteer their time to learn with and guide our students. These leaders bring diverse perspectives and deep Torah knowledge, helping to strengthen our students’ connection to Jewish learning and community.

Mishmar includes learning sessions, interactive discussions, and a delicious snack or treat — creating a warm and welcoming space where students look forward to returning each week.
